The stiffness of the morning
will slowly
work its way
out of tired joints.
Bland breakfasts
ensure
regularity,
a welcomed monotony.
Well-planned days
permit
no dismal contemplation
of tomorrow.

We are Yesterday's children,
remembering too well,
the heat and the passion,
the beauty that was ours.
Hearing echoes
of past glories,
we sojourn here today,
until,
like dreams
and memories,
we gently
fade

This is so heartwrenchingly beautiful, it hurts and should be presented with a hankie alert!

You have really identified with them to write so intensely about them.

Love,

Thank you, Margherita.  They are everywhere, and, ultimately, everyone.
Peace

As one of "yestrday's children" I understand this all too well. I love the way you faded away.

Ida:  Thank you.  This one of "Yesterday's Children" is more inclined to Dylan Thomas, and tends to "rage, rage against the dying of the light."

There is a wonderful reminiscing about this, the echoes and past glories could stand alone and drift in the comfort and silence of days gone by.

Always enjoy reading your poetry, hippie dude.

As someone who works with the most delicate and dear of yesterday's children, I must say I hope to see you do more in this vein.

There is, after all, so much more to say... if only someone will take the time to hear.

this is so well written. it proves as a great reminder to channel your inner child and to not let the years be consumed with routine and as you stated, monotony. it is important to live life through living, and not through getting by. a lovely reminder, carpe diem
