Between the Lines

0 posted 2009-11-16 05:48 AM

It's hidden in
the "between the lines"
of aging:
either fear or contentment

where traditions of old
are imprisoned in the mind

where each step forward
is a reminder of yesterday

where peacefulness crawls
under a coverlet of dreams

where security is  holding
onto one's self

where the wondering is daily
and the unknown is always...

a moment away.

Profound ponderings, dear Maureen.

In a way it is exciting that the "unknown is always just moments away ...". We are in the flow, wrapped in dreams, past and hopes and an ever present veil of melancholy ...

We ARE! Enjoyed your beautiful poem very much.

Love,
Margherita

nakdthoughts:  Your Muse today is full of philosophical musings.  Thoughtful piece of art that I find just a little depressing:  it has an autumn feel to it...sort of the sadness of winter's onset without the hope of spring.  Nicely done.

"where peacefulness crawls
under a coverlet of dreams"

~ Let me keep that thought! ~ and recall it every night as I slip off to slumber...

I enjoy reading your contemplative ponderings. I undersand them.

Sweet dreams!

It is now Tuesday morning, and I thank you for the kind responses. If seeming a bit depressing, it is only because lately I am realizing my time that is left...

This poem has some lovely, and very memorable, lines, Maureen. I think I will keep this one.
