                    MY  DOG

My dog is very dear to me for she‘s a true blue dinkum Aussie
She’s sharp and smart,as smart can be with the fancy name of Rozzie,
Her happy face and wagging tail are like a breath of fresh spring air
To follow me she never fails, she’s as my shadow everywhere.

If I should travel on the road on my four wheel Honda bike
Roz stands up on the petrol tank, it’s a place she seems to like,
The pleasure that she brings to us is a thing that can’t be measured
O’er the years we’ve had many dogs but none have been more treasured.

Canine canis was tamed by man so many centuries ago
Our expectations are as such that they’ll protect us from all foe,
But pets of many kinds are kept, budgies finch and cockatoos
Mice and rats and often cats, guinea pigs and kangaroos.

It ‘s a well known fact that as we grow old the keeping of a pet
Is good therapy for the lonely folk and helps keep away regret,
Pets are really great companions and help brighten up each day
They never ask for favours and a most vital part they play.

Dogs to me are beyond refute as a most true and faithful friend
They’ll remain beside you all the way right up to the bitter end,
Love they give that no state can provide even at a lot of expense
A kindly wet tongue is never denied & they’ll die in their master's defence.

Throughout history dogs feats have unfalteringly grew
There are so many brave deeds that will leave you agog,
But there is one thing I know that is most certainly true
Man has no better friend than his dog.

Lindsay, you always have a tale to tell; be it a laugh or a lesson. Or both. I'll just nudge this old, black-and -white rascal... he won't thank me.... he's 15 years old.
Go, buddy, go.

Isn't that the truth! *S* Apartment life limits me to 2 cats... but even the lousiest day gets better the minute I walk in the door and see their faces. *G* Big hugs to you and your Roz! *S*

A hug from Zelda, my cat, to your Rozzie! You have written a beautiful tribute to your dog, dear Lindsay, and all you say is so true. To bury my head into her soft belly and listening to her purrs will always do more for me than any tranquilizers ...

So lovely!

Thank you for this.

Love,
Margherita

I love animals! ~ Dogs, cats, bunnies, horses ~ the list goes on! Mind you, you seldom hear about a man and his rhinoceros! lol Ah, yes, a man and his dog! "You can't have one without the other" ~ as the song goes. Your Rozzie is quite the Aussie canine!
My precious kitties (Felicity and Angel) send lots of huggies and sweet kisses to you and Roz!

An adorable poem!

Loveya!

I appreciate this write for many reasons but for one reason is I had a faithful pup named "Pinto" who was half red Australian Sheppard and half Coyote. He used to heal our string of horses when we needed to round them up. A wonderful dog and friend. He lived to be 16 years old in human time that some say is like 114. 7X16=114
Thanks for the grand read my friend from down under.

My dog, Legend, is certainly my best friend. I understood this fully, and enjoyed it just as much.

I love my dog, and my truck. It's that simple, really.

What would we do if there were no pets to
console us and take the tears away....

To Sharon, Osprey, Ruth, Margherita, Linda, Al, Paul and Magnus, a very sincere thank you to all you kind poets for popping in

with a kind response. Dogs play a big part in a lot of people's lives and are far more intelligent than a lot of people realize.

They say that you only get one really outstanding dog in your lifetime but out of all the dozens I've owned I have been very

lucky in having had two that were beyond belief. God bless you all and thanks again

Dear Lindsay - What you say is so true!  My 16 year old beautiful border collie recently passed away peacefully in her sleep.  I think of her every day but more especially after reading your poem.  I don't think any of my words could pay proper tribute to her but perhaps I should try.  Damn - now I can't see!  Stupid tears!

A big thank you To James, Bobby, Steve and Helen. Anyone who doesn't have a dog do not know the pleasure they miss out on. Norma and I are often amazed at the knowledge and perception that Rozzie shows us every single day. She is a wonderful watch dog, will say hello to anyone on demand and tell you her age and how far it is down to our nearest town and so many other little things that she does willingly with a smile on her face. A real pleasure to own.

Lindsay, I really like this poem.  I have loved all my dogs and I love my two that make me smile now.  But there's always that one who will forever be special.  Mine was my Tasha-dog.

Thank you.

Thanks Alison for popping in. Dogs are
wonderful companions and are far more

valueable to a person's wellbeing than most people realize, especcially the elderly. If

you like reading dog stories, you must read a book called 'Jock of The Bushveldt' a

true story about a dog in Africa in the 18 hundreds. I have hundreds of books in my

book cases but 'Jock of the Bushveldt' takes number one place. A must read for sure. Thanks again dear friend, love.
