The Goddess dreams:
     they swirl like clouds
     of dark matter
     filling cosmic emptiness
     with something unknown,
     but profound.

Her children have long deserted her
     to create new,
     invisible gods
     with commandments
     more lenient,
     less stringent,
     absolute and terrifying
     than hers.

We poison her seas,
     foul her air,
     soil her earth.
     We strip her foliage,
     kill her beasts,
     plunder her resources
     with no thought,
          no thanks,
          no care.

The Goddess dreams:
     a violent dream
     of punishment,
     of decimation,
     in which she waits
     in barren, airless splendour
     until her time is,
     again.

hello Jim, mother nature will punish men indeed, it is sure as we are bnot able to create life, we depend of nature and life around us...Thanks for the pertinent poem.

No, I don't hear her voice of revenge, her voice is saddened though. But what happens to her and us is more our self-punishment. We are the only ones responsible.

And now that we are growing in this awareness, we are beginning to mend. May we be in time!

"Gaia's dream" is a wonderful, impressive contribution to induce humanity to stop destroying its habitat!

Great write, dear Jim.

Love,
Margherita

I do believe the Goddess must renew herself and it will be at our expence because we have failed to show her the proper respect.

Yann, Margherita, Ida:  The concerted voices of many "little" people seem to be growing to a mighty worldwide crescendo, that may, just may, have initiated meaningful change.
Peace

as a "Deep-Time" geopoet and "Universalist" ...
I can only say BRAVO!! ...

v. well written!

the human species must embrace its calling to
Gaia stewardship rather than the tragic path to
extinction that we have sadly followed for far too long.

ArcticWind:  Thank you very much.  I have sampled many poetry fora, and, for the first time I feel at home.

secondhanddreampoet:  So unusual to meet a DeepTimer Universalist geo-poet.  Upon thinking it over, I see that it is a very logical and complimentary marriage of philosophy and art.  I profess to being a "natural pantheist" but dislike labelling, as I believe the universe will continue to reveal Truth-nuggets as my Dharma unfolds.
