The Sour Dough Story quote: ~*~ The day would fluctuate from hither to yon Within the month of June, you know, But sure as shooting, there would come A Father’s day celebrated by the man in tow. He would scarce want it, so stubborn was he To live a day taking up his measure So much so that he’d never know we Had ever so much to really treasure. ~*~ Two weeks ago or so I imagine I had an idea in my heart That I would give the man I married All that was treasured in his heart. He never believed that some soured dough Could make this, his day, so well For I’ve some time on my wifely now And of course sour dough needs to dwell! But given the fact that in 1980 Another matter had come to be… A marriage was then to join us Adding to his fatherhood, you see… Now two daughters to add to his own As a father of three, he felt quite alone. And being that he, a “master” of ‘things’ We argued over pans, but certainly not rings! Today, however, he was Lord of the Manor Father’s day again on this Anniversary 29 years together we’ve spun Like some far-flung totally weird history. And sour-dough was the starter I made Around the 10th of June… It took it’s time to dwell in its brine And I promised a dinner in given time. So today I took a bit of the broth Sour it smelled, somewhat like our troth! Then some sausage, mushroom and cheese, Other condiments were flung upon the breeze Voila! A pizza…he smiled, but he quivered… I think he wondered if I would place liver On his pizza, but no, no such thing… Then I placed the pan in the oven to bring About smells he hadn’t smelled in some time; Sourdough pizza, it has such a brine Of delight but oh, the smiles it will bring When the cheese bubbles up in the pizza dough ring! So on this Father’s day, our Anniversary, It’s as true as this reading, He’s not simply asking for more… No, it’s really more like a pleading! © KRJ 6-21-09 ![]() |

Thanks for reading, friends...a poor substitute poem for a time when I should have really celebrated 10 years with PiP with a better write! Dang muse....she's taking an overly long hiatus! ![]() Ron, you may not see this, but know just the same, that this site has seen me through the worst and some of the best of my times. Without Passions in Poetry, my novel would have never seen the light of day. I'm proud to say that the companion novel to Yesterday's Love will be submitted soon to the publishing house. I'm on my last leg of editing... which doesn't mean that they won't want to edit, too. ![]() Ron, Nan, Sharon, Kit....and all of you that have made me welcome this past decade: God bless you! "Stuff" happens for a reason; you are all remarkable in the most ingenious ways...and I hope to someday share with you just what you have all truly meant to me. ![]() [the other] K [This message has been edited by Sunshine (06-29-2009 09:45 AM).] |

Sour it smelled, somewhat like our troth! LOL... But it has endured... and, like the pizza. the end product is worth a few unpleasantries. *S* A belated happy anniversary to you both... I liked this very much! |

I like it! Its funny and uh..whats the word..well it makes me feel good inside when I read it. I thought perhaps it was going to be about making some bread but I can see now that it was more than that. I've never heard of sourdough pizza but maybe I'll have to try it some day. Thanks for writing this and making me smile today. ~Dreamer05~ |

Oh by golly, I just love this! What a neat thing to do for love, knowing it was a favorite. I'm sure your efforts were appreciated, as was your poem about it. |
