(Samhain is pronounced "SOW-en") Samhain, in days gone by enough to turn the chilling eye to any thoughts of peace and safety for the Christian soul, now it's but a day of play as children make their way through parented streets in wardrobes purchased from a costume man, with horror reduced to caricatures of fears that loosed the bladders of our forebears. ©2009 by icebox |

this is a chilling piece, but it really addresses the 'dark' times we live in, unfortunately. Strong imagery here, and the pacing is wonderful... Kosmic888'we are all connected by strings of light' |

I hope your Samhain was a good one. Even WITH the beastly little creatures in their costumes. Blessed be. Goddess grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. |

Yes, I agree, nothing remains as it was. Samhain in its celtic origins was certainly a totally different matter. You caught this as always masterfully, dear Charlie. Love, Margherita ![]() |

Maybe someday we can change all the horrors of the world into something different instead of just exchanging one for another. Ida |
