When We Two Parted Me in pain with flowing tears, Demented – broken hearted, To sever all those, our years. Your cheeks were pale and cold, Yet colder was your kiss, In that hour that foretold My life of what is now this! An icy winter’s morning Slapping frost onto my brow, A clue, like a warning Of what it is I feel now. Your vows now all broken And yet I share your past fame: As your name I hear spoken I share the pain and shame. Your name the say before me, Like a death knell in my ear, A shiver comes over me, God why were you so, so dear? They know, it’s you I long to see And that I knew you well: Will I rue that you knew me, Of this I cannot tell! In that great passion we met: In dismal silence I grieve That your heart could soon forget, And your spirit does deceive. And perchance we should meet In months ahead, or long years, How do you think we’ll greet With silence and full tears. |

so well written, so much longing. It floods. I pray that absence makes the heart grow fonder. |
