ok
today is d-day
gonna clean out my mess
gonna empty out this room
gypsy Halloween costume?
out with it!
purple boots (wore them just once)
bye bye
away with the ‘just in cases’ and ‘they might be trendy agains’
old records?
in the trash
I’m no collector anyway
and I ain’t planning a garage sale any time soon
the video recorder’s got to go
let me see
what’s in that box?
hey..
come look!
that’s me with mom
I think I’m three
she bought me an ice cone that day
what else is in here?
oh… I forgot I kept this
my diary
you know what C L G
stands for?
Cindy loves Glenn
my first crush
and this
this is the first love letter I received
the first break up letter
the first make up letter
what else is in that box?
this is me on his motorbike
I wore the purple boots
just to be cool
sigh…………………..
………………………
I think I’m gonna keep those boots
those records?
………………..
o what the heck, just for old time’s sake
and for that matter
I still kinda like the gypsy dress
I can wear it this year
.......if it fits.

Story of my life .. d-day

To answer your question, you can edit a post within 24 hours of making it, by using the little icon with a pencil and piece of paper.

This was a nice poem though.

As I have been trying to clear out the old things also,I was drawn to this and understand completely. I still have my old junior high papers and letters from the late 1940's. I have tried but heck; Let the kids do it. They will haul in a dumpster and just toss. I  have a hard time doing it,they will not like the job but it will be easier for them in the long run.  LOL latearrival

Enjoyed this as I look around at all I am TRYING to organize~~~ but when you stop to read or look at each item it seems to take forever as memories take hold.

Shalisadefa:  I enjoyed this poem very much.  Most of us can identify with the problems/memories/trauma involved with de-cluttering.  Thanks for sharing.  See you are in Suriname:  I spent a wonderful three years in Guyana in the 80s.  Good memories.

Sutra 4: Do not expect your Path to be smooth.  It will have rocks, slippery portions, and parts that are washed away completely.  Persevere.

shalisadefa - you have written a poem full of memories. I like this one, and it's well written with all the thoughts...
