Yesterday,
as Pooh would say
'twas a blustery day.
Gale force winds filled with driving rain,
temps just warm enough to deceive
foolhardy rainwalkers
who think the breaks were made for us.

When I saw the break,
both coat and boots yelled at me
to get off the tethered laptop
and experience the REAL world outdoors,
no matter what it offered.
Three blocks later, Mother Nature
presented me with my reminder notice.

By the time I made it back home
I was soaked to the bone.
Even my coat was a dripping disaster.
It's time to purchase serious raingear,
the kind the fishermen wear,
only hopefully not bright yellow or neon orange!
I favor turquoise, burgundy or forest green.

The saga of life on the Oregon coast continues.

I love it, I LOVE it, I LOVVVVVVVE IT!!!!  I absolutely adore Pooh Bear, and I gave my cat, Tigger, a (small) fright with my squeals of delight when I read it.  He is sitting on my shins on the other side of Lilian (my laptop).  He forgave me instantly, as he is as friendly as the original Tigger.  I absolutely love the whole poem (but not the fact that you got soaked to the bone - you must watch other aspects of your health as well, so as not to complicate the issues).  Every word of the poem sings "Kacy", and your spirit, sense of humour and your perspicacity.

Whilst I love the idea of turquoise, and especially burgundy and especially, esPECially forest green, nevertheless bright yellow matches your spirit, your joyfulness and your delight in (especially Vincent's) sunflowers, and I can see you in it so clearly, characteristically and determinedly being the only brightness on a dull, rainy day!  However, I DON'T see you in neon orange - or at least, not for raingear!  Smiles.  I LOVVVVVVVVVE the fact that you are getting your daily walks.

(giggles) Yep, that's bound to happen during the cooler months in Oregon, LOL! The good news, however, is that both the National Weather Service and Accuweather's winter forecast outlooks suggest that the Pacific Northwest is in for a warmer and drier winter compared to average (I guess it's bad news in terms of drought relief, but I for one welcome a winter like this after that historic snowstorm last year) so we can hope we won't have as many "Pooh" days like this! (huggies)

I would suggest turquoise to you, by the way, yay!

XOXO,
Lisping Hibiscus

Noah, turquoise and jade green are two of my favorite colors. I hope you're right, as I may need to travel back and forth to
Portland, to OHSU for tests and treatments.

Maureen, are you getting noreasters? BRRRR

Simply Delightful
As Pooh would say, "Shall we discuss this further over a breakfast of cakes and honey."

Ah, Home sweet home. I rained here, off and on, yesterday but not enough to do damage to the burned out hillsides, Just a nice refreashing rain. Kind of early for So. Cal.

GBride...cakes and honey...yum!

Ida good thing it was gentle enough it didn't create mudslides. Maybe a few gentle rains and the hillsides will be covered in orange poppies and lilacs next spring!

Jimmy, LOL, my neighbor said I looked like a nearly drowned cat.

Midnitesun, I really appreciate this work.  Walks in the rain are close to my heart, and each rainwalk I dither over what to wear.  Here on Canada's East Coast, I have been transported, through some quantum shift, to the Pacific rainforest of Oregon.  Thank you for a wonderful, and amusing, walk in the rain.

Anytime, AH. Rainwalkers are a special breed, don't seem to be 'bothered' by chaos.

Thank you for putting a smile on my faace this morning with your delightful poem. Reminds me of living in Florida when I would decide to walk off a few extra pounds and end up getting a shower for my efforts.

Oh, did you ever get this one the way it is, the wishfulness, the strange magic of the wayward winds, and the skin soaking indifference of the rain.

Oregonians do not tan, they simply rust!

I bet you are loving this weather as you have waited to "feel" her again for a long, long time.  There is an old Irish saying, and here is the re-worked version for you Kacy:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Sláinte mhaith!

Sharon, that is beautiful! Hugs to you, yes....we are ONE.

This morning was foggy and chilly, but turned to bright sunshine by noon.
I didn't even need my jacket this afternoon!

Don't forget the hat of the ancient mariner.  I love those kinds of days, but sometimes it's best to watch from the window and have a hot toddy.  Don't catch a cold.

so true, Alison! It's been raining since 4 AM.
~pout~ I lost my internet connex last night, just got back on with the help of tech support. I feel lost without my Blackberry internet and 'tethering' service for the laptop!
(don't ask what is cost, it's gross!)
