I’m not getting any younger- And it’s time I realized… I’d better stop and smell the roses, Lay and gaze up at the skies. All the youthful vim and vigor- Like a vapor are long gone. Even in a crowd I’m lonely- I guess I’ve always been alone. In my mind I’m still a champion- Like I thought I was back then, It was always, “This next season…” Just another “might have been”. Every season was the “big one”- Was the one I “won it all”- Start in Houston in the winter- Then “the Daddy of them All”! Dreams of Vegas, and the Finals- The ten head I never drew. All the dreams and miles I traveled, All the nights when I was blue. I hope I die while I am dreaming, Of the roaring of the crowd- In my sleep I’m young and able- In my dreams I’m “cowboy proud”. Where I die, don’t really matter. But I hope that when I go… There’ll be some who will remember- That I used to rodeo. |

Hi there Gunslinger~ In a way your rodeo days live on through your poetry. I so enjoy a good western and you certainly know how to kick up the dust. Great to read you here tonight, cowboy. |

Ah yes but we can always dream on through what we write, although it's not the same I know. Loved this one with a little nostalgic twist to it. Great rhymes and flow to your poem, enjoyed it very much. Heart2Heart |

You share your rodeo with us and now - when i think of "rodeo" or watch bullriding on tv, honestly you drift across my thoughts. Pretty cool actually. A |
