nowhere and everywhere

I shake free
shedding leaves
branches bared
I have what I need
I must go
surrounding evergreen
will shelter long winter
I will proceed
It is so
northern winds and
ice on the prairie
will falter in Spring
hope will thrive
on bitter vine
bursting new seed
this I know
and I will celebrate
that season’s gathering
and welcome
the simple adornment
of new leaves

alone.
