Look in the Mirror

You don't know me
I don't know you
But we share the same reflection
The one that laughs at you
The one that will betray you

That one persona of pain
To not let go
It clings
It hates
It hungers for happiness
Hungers for acceptance
Hungers for an escape

But somehow we smile
When we are all together
We comfort one another with empathy
Placing a different face
On the same reflection
That same reflection that teases you
Mocks you

But somehow we survive
Together
And cry
Believing one day
Our reflections will smile back
And hold us
Love us
Forgive us
But most of all
Protect us from ourselves
