Awwwwwwwwww, thanks Suthern! This is one of those poems that I think sounds far more intense and sultry when spoken than when read on paper or the screen. This poem certainly isn't about violence or anything remotely like that literally, but I use words that sound violent to signify the revolutionary transformation in my life right now, and "death" truly is just as much about new beginnings and evolutions than about the end of things and old habits dying hard. So this poem is largely inspired by my new-found fascination with dakinis and how they slay the poisons and demons within us all with their benevolent wrath, and is a double-meaning poem, firstly about making sense of death as an often beautiful thing that's truly synonymous with life (whenever no one gets hurt or wronged obviously). There's actually another kind of "death" that permeates the whole of this poem, which I can't really go into detail about, but I'm sure plenty here will get the idea, LOL! In all honesty, I feel reborn myself this year, after responding to my utter emotional breakdown late last year and the ennui leading up to it that spanned two years. I know I'm me certainly, but I nonetheless also feel brand-new to existence. And my head has never felt so crystal clear, my sense of wonder so illimitable, my feverish lovesickness for life so insatiable. And what may seem ironic to some who still interpret death as all about endings is that it was by killing off my old "self" proverbially that made all I'm feeling now possible, along with the beginning of so many new possibilities and opportunities. I hope soon to get my new poetry recorded in a performance setting and uploaded to YouTube so others can experience the full intensity and sensuality to the words I breathe! I'm glad you loved this, and wish you a wonderful new week! XOXO, Lisping Hibiscus "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other" Mother Teresa |
