YOU ARE MY POETRY

You are the whispered breath I sigh
You are the silent death I die
You are my love, you are my heart
The phrase in every pulsing part

You are the rhythms of my sea
The silver crest of ecstasy
You are my life, you are my birth
You are the axis of my earth

For every sonnet I have heard
For every soft poetic word
For every cadence, every rhyme
Since the sacred birth of time

There is an image of myself
Some day to rest upon my shelf
You are the songs inside of me
You're my unwritten poetry
