Lost,lonely,looking for love
I met you quietly,hopefully,
Your words intriguing,flattering
my bruised ego,charming,entrancing me
Lucious,lovely,lips,you whispered
sweet somethings in my ear

I fell deeply in awe
of your wild poets heart
Laughing,loving,delight in sharing
snowy windswept beaches,wild music
Mundane domestic chores,made light
by your loving,laughing presence.

You opened my heavy heart
stretching my unquestioning,simple mind
Childlike,worshiping at your feet
on a pedestal,placing you
High above,destined to fall,
unwittingly I became your jailor

Smothering you with my love
your wild darling heart caged
Wings beating,against silken bars
deluded,drawing you ever closer
Pushing you,devouring your freedom
fear you'll fly, haunting me

My sad,selfish,sorry attempt
to stop you flying free
Born from familial rejection
bottled up,denied,never voiced
Simmering,seething,scratching the surface
now shrieking to be out

You opened up my heart
to recognise,accept,forgive,exorcise
Pride forgotten,bruised heart beating
I ask forgiveness,yet you
Refuse to listen,too late
your love cold as clay

Too hurtful,now my realisation
I'd found,my sweet soulmate
My confession,now too late
trust I will remember you
Goodbye my,darling heart,goodbye
fly high,like a freebird

GR-my way of saying sorry-I understand now.x

Love is never a captor, only the mind.
Hearts are always free.

Powerful stuff.

After reading your poem I can regconize an all too familiar scene....a reflection I knew of some years past....

Sorry for your loss...sometimes we do realize what we had and it is too late,
like the saying, or song
"Don't know what you got till its gone"
but then, by fate, maybe it was never meant to be...and your true soulmate is just around the corner.?

Thank you Romantic Heart for your kind words. It appears I may have jumped the gun & all is not lost, so hopefully new poems should be a bit lighter in spirit!

Powerful, Naturegirl.  This gives us an intimate glimpse into a heart that is growing ever more sensitive and understanding.  It is a symphony of compassion.
Go well.

Love requires freedom to expand, to maintain its own altitude.
You've written a very tender poignant story, with words of wisdom.
May 'freebird' return, to share a love you both can enjoy without restraints.

Welcome to Pips.
