standing on a shadow's lace

Laminate

today as you dress
you live by some code
referred to on a regular basis
that alters as you go along
it is not that you are a liar
just challenged by the truth
so I lick the tip of my finger
in risk, extending it to the air
questioning by which direction
wind will be this moment’s blow
and words will be so different
by the very shape of your mouth
as you stand in front of the wooden closet
that casual quick change costumes hang in
mirrored outside faced to fine oiled oak
where doors open to sawdust and glue

and today
out in that forest
a tree
will come crashing down
but it falls
on deaf ears

"I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad."
— Joni Mitchell

from the treetop
this tumbled town
in the crescendo
in its emphatic thud
at the end
very poignant

okay
It's not that I am a liar
but that I am challenged by the truth.
okay
I always wet my finger to test the
direction of the wind.
okay
so the words come out of my mouth in different directions depending on that wind direction.
But, hey look, I still have a job.
Great Poem! But, of course, I'm not really to be trusted!

"it is not that you are a liar
just challenged by the truth"

yeah, that's cool

Loved the ending!
