Daddy took me Camping

Daddy worked on the trailer for hours,
Trying to make it right,
Grandpa let us use it,
For sleeping in at night,

All summer he was fixing,
Doing this and that,
Painting, cleaning, and checking the tires,
So we wouldn’t have a flat,

It took so long until the day,
Daddy said that we would go camping,
Grandpa gave me his special pole
Just so I could go fishing,

Then came the time that we had planned,
I could hardly stand the wait,
We hooked the camper to the car,
And mommy closed the gate,

We drove what seamed like hours,
In the mountains through little towns,
Over the river and down dirt roads,
Till we made it to our campground,

We set up our little trailer,
And Daddy lit a fire,
We cooked hot dogs and marshmallows,
As many as I desired,

Then when it got dark, and time to turn in,
We put our sleeping bags together,
I dreamed of camping out under the stars,
A memory I will keep forever.
.
.
Josh went camping series.

The answer is always NO, Until the question is asked.

Tracey my good friend, what a wonderful memory to have and to keep. It will mean even more to you as time goes by.

It brought back a lot of great memories to me when I was a lad. After all, that is all

we have left when it comes time to shut the book. A very poignant poem. Take care.

Did you write this in the voice of your son, or is it a memory of yours? Either way it is a wonderful read, dear Tracey. Such an experience will forever be a happy one for any child!

Most beautiful!

Love,
Margherita

Dear Margherita,  I did write this in the voice or memory of my boy Josh.  We went camping over Labor day weekend.  His first time.  Grandma (Billie) and Grandpa came up and joined us for one night. It was a wonderful time for all.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments.
Look for my other poems in my camping with Josh series.

Love always,
Tracey.

Thanks Larzana,  I hope to do this with him every year.  We are going to go back to the same place again so he can relive these memories and make new ones.

appreciated,
Tracey

Tracey, kids seldom keep journals nowadays.  You're writing your son's for him! lol ~ and done with so much love! ~ and parents take note of things that kids tend to overlook. He will truly enjoy this poetic journal ~ Especially when he is older.

This is a marveollous series! ~ Good Daddy!

Love, hugs, and smiley faces,

Linda

If today had been a frowning day, this would have made me smile. *S* You see as Josh must see... no wonder you made the excursion so special! *S*

Linda,  thank you so much for your wonderful comments,  I am hoping that these mean something to him when he gets older and can share them with his children someday.

When I write a poem now,  he makes me tell him the words.  I read him one last night and he said he liked it, but it was long.
It was only 6 verses.

Thanks again,
Tracey.

Ida,,, thank you so very much,  We did make some wonderful memories up there,  I think his favorite one, though, was getting to pee on a tree.  (I snapped a picture just for fun)

Thanks again,
Tracey
