Every human being is a lie,
the manager and his factory,
the prostitute and the love,
the poet and his ideal,
the grocer and his butter,
the priest and his religion,
every human being is a lie,
the clown and his laughter,
the fiancée and her nudity,
the star and her fans,
the player of fate and his bets,
the astronomer and his desires,
every human being is a lie,
but there are beautiful lies
and there are nasty lies
and all these lies are truth.

I suppose you're right. There is a whole lotta lyin' goin' on! Mind you, I tend to believe what most people say ~ until proven otherwise. I have very little tolerance for bare-faced lies.  I usually give people the benefit of the doubt ~ until proven otherwise.

I must admit, that I have told the occasional white lie to prevent hurting someone. I'm somewhat of a 'rescuer'. However, if that person begins to take advantage of my kindness, I will eventually find it necessary to bluntly state the truth ~ come what may.

Thank you for this provocative write. It certainly provoked my own thoughts. lol

hello linda, thanks for the explicite comment, I guess that we are not perfect, so lies are a part of us, some lie more, some lie a few and all this is part of humanity...Thanks again for your kind comment,

yann

Lies are the polite grease on which our society travels.
For me, I think it started each day in school when I had to say the pledge to allegiance. I had no idea what it meant, but I knew I had to say it, or be punished, then beaten up by the other kids.
We start having to say things just to get through the day and it goes on all our lives.
"Oh, has it been twenty years, well, you don't look a day older than them."
"You're too young to have a great grandchild."
"You carry your weight so well, I'd never have guessed you gained twenty pounds."

Not the astronomer and his desires!! And not ... well I know what you mean, dear Yann. There is certainly some truth in what you convey here. We are let's say "multifaceted" humans. There are lies and lies ... Sometimes a lie can even save a life, I tell you.

Thought provoking work, no doubt! Thank you for this, dear Yann.

Love,
Margherita
