colored pencil art by jkb

I sat last night,
tired legs
o'er the arms of my old wicker chair
'One more year.'
A sigh
too weary to pray
or sing my late day chant
.
Don Juan and new-mown grass
whisper
a promise of gentle night
Burn-red sun sets lighting
a world beyond my perch,
then spreads across the sky
turning ribbons of purple - pearl
across Old Sandia Mountaiin
A present just for me!
.
My weathered years settle
to the back of my mind
as teardrops and promises
evaporate into yesterday
.
Sometimes I think I am not home
This simple place,
where earth meets sky
and the creak of my old wicker chair
sings 'One more year'
Then God sends me
this late-day glow
And I know
.
One more year
I know

~~~
Wonderful, dear Janet, a moment of pondering on a special day, with Nature's majestic gifts surrounding you. I hope your legs were tired because you had been dancing through the evening ...
So, if this yesterday was, as I understand, your birthday, may happiness and joy accompany you through the new year of life.
The drawing is very lovely too. Wicker chairs are so romantic!
Love and joy.
Another gift from God: one more year.
A peaceful day for you to enjoy.
May your year bring you great happiness!
The world beyond your perch, is lovely, Jan (as is your colour pencil drawing!).
Yes, "one more year" ~ and then another, and another...
You should be a popular artist.
Ever consider writing a children's story book, including your drawings and sketches?
That would be lovely,
