Dust in the sun light
Twinkle beyond bright
I took you with a smile
Then a beckoning of my voice
You said you liked my style
Then it all fades away

We hold hands
Night and day
We made plans
To get far away
From all the eyes
That just seemed to take you from me.
Fades to the night when you cry

Carmel and Vanilla
Always went good together
I thought
But because of this
We fought

Baby, skin color is just shade
Baby, skin color shouldn't make this fade
Baby, your memory still lingers

My days grew dull
They grew dark
I lost myself
We grew apart

Then I saw your spark.
You in his arms.
Tall dark and handsome.

Like rain drops from the heavens
I've cried a river
Like a builder of the ancients
I've built me a bridge
Like a explorer of old
I've made my way across

I've done as you told me
So here I stand
There you are
Still you don't quite see

So in anger I must tell you baby
I've burned that bridge
I'm trying to build another
Over this ridge, across this canyon
So I can climb over that mountain...
I just wish you were still my companion

Dear Lost Poet
First thing when I get home from work. I look on this page and see if anyone has written anything and gotten only a few or no comments. I find this intolerable. You work hard on your poem and people don't look at it.
Now this poem is good but I have a question: why do you fight over carmel and vanilla?
I think I'll go right to the corner and ask that goofy guy over there with smile on his face why this is.

Carmel and Vanilla are metaphors for skin color.
