Today I observe
Poverty on my Paris day
An old man sits on the pavement
Shoulders hunched
Skin tanned but dirty
Eyes old and weary
Clothes tattered
A simple handwritten note
Is placed beside him
‘J'ai faim, m'aide, svp’
I watch him look at the passersby
His old weary eyes plead fixedly
No one stops
No one offers coins
He says nothing
Just sits there
Willing kindness to show her hand
And the kindness of strangers to nourish him
Bisous du Paris

And you did, didn't you.  I love this, Roniece - as I love you.

Love your slices of Paris.

The poet always sees what others fail to notice. This is very sad and I see it all to often here.

Dear Roniece, another adventure and journey through you eyes my friend; life can be sad for many people, often choices can be the wrong one and its path a dead end. Lucky for kindness and hearts that give generously as I am sure you would have. Thanks for sharing your thoughts today.

Well...I already said...your best...and how hard it was to pick a best...and of course this now has to be...your best two as I can't pick a best between the two...

(big huggies) It is simply disheartening to see poverty take place anywhere, especially in the same areas of town where others have upscale lofts and are thriving in their own living situations! There are many homeless people on the streets and sidewalks in Old Town/Chinatown here in downtown Portland, and I've been actively protesting as of late a new Sit/Lie Ordination that would basically force all homeless citizens who rest on the sidewalks to take a hike! (sad sigh)

Bless you, my friend, your heart shines with radiant compassion each and every day!

XOXO,
