I love to see the snow geese Against the autumn sky Travelling south before the dusk In formation as they fly Pale feathers touched by twilight Where evening glory shines Geese in little straggly flocks And geese in nice straight lines Each silver bird will not return Until the springtime nears A perilous journey home again Unchanging through the years You can see their wingtips beating As they flash across the sun Graceful birds of snow and ice Many geese in flight as one How good to have a back wind Against the fading light As angel hands draw softly The shadowed veils of night.... |

Heart2Heart, a stunning piece of writing my friend, gave many thoughts of their plight and journey. Lovely photo as well, enjoyed. Rick |

Such a beautiful poem, paired with a stunning picture. Do you take your pictures? I love the geese as they fly overhead. It does something to my heart as I watch them and listen to them. They catch me in mid breath. Know what I mean? I love this. Alison |

Dear , our Canadian geese have begun flying south for the winter. Your poem and the photo have captured the mysterious beauty of the migration of geese. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful... Love & Goose Light, Linda |

Each silver bird will not return Until the springtime nears A perilous journey home again Unchanging through the years How good to have a back wind Against the fading light As angel hands draw softly The shadowed veils of night.... You capture the essence of nature with this beautiful poem. When I was a lad we used to sit outside on a lovely moonlit night and listen to the plaintive call of the black swans in flight, as they passed overhead in tight vee formation. Very seldom do we ever see it now. Thank you so much dear Katriona for sharing this masterpiece with us all It was a delight to read. Love and a big hug Lindsay |

Hi Alison, thanks for stopping by. Yes this is a wonderful and yearly sight, both when they leave and when they return. My daughter is a keen photographer and member that lovely picture site "flickr.com", and she tips me when there is a picture I might want to spin a poem around, like this one. Katriona |

Your words fit the subject perfectly, my friend...been years since we've seen/heard the geese over my place...people, concrete and building have replaced them - such a loss. Now have to travel for miles and miles to catch a glimpse of what used to fill my winter skies.... Much enjoyed... j. |

ONe of my fav's. Katriona. In just a few weeks, Art and I are going down along the Bosque in S New Mexico to watch the "migration of the Geese" It is just spectacular, thousands and thousands all take off together and fly south at the crack of dawn for the winter. HUggs Jan |
