Sunburst winds whip my face raw. Stepping over broken shells and storm scattered driftwood at low tide, searching past the rocks that sit the bay in wait for what, I do not know though these Gibralter dreamers somehow know I am waiting. My bones feel a chill, nostrils flare at the salty air, eyes gaze beyond the breakers as Gulliver gulls fly by screaming move forward, move forward, slide down the crested waves into the warm, sail where you’ve feared to go before. Hoist the anchor, let go the weight of the past. Capture the wind as it hits your sails, trim the jib, and fly. Listen to the music of a wind song in the sails. Navigate the stars and be free. |

Kacy, you are a very brave woman with a beautiful soul and a delight in and an eye for all the treasures around us, and a unique poetic gift in your ability to share it all with us, in all its nuances. I saw the painting of you on the beach, and would love to hang it on my wall. Owl |

Thanks, Di! I've spent many days sitting on jetties and piers watching sailboats, and a few cherished days sailing the Pacific. Helen, thank you for visiting! K, I actually did sail more than once listening to that Christopher Cross song. ~sigh~ those were some fine hours |

This certainly takes on the wind, and is a sight to behold. Such a beautiful message, and in the end it just flys so high. Lovely thoughts, Kacy~ |

My kind of poetry, Kacy, I might have written it myself. In my opinion, poetic expression does not get better than this, it just doesn't. There is a tragedy in a place like PIP, however. We will discover kindred souls here that we will never get to meet in the flesh. I am sorry for that. Bless you for gracing these pages with your fine work. e |

quote: This sums up the ecstasy of sailing so intensely, dear Kacy! Brought back into mind Rod Stewart's song "Sailing" ... "I am sailing stormy waters to be near you, to be free ...". A deeply captivating piece of poetry! A keeper! Love, Margherita ![]() |

Bluesy, thanks for sailing with me. Krawdad, Indeed, you could have written this. I, too, feel sad that I am unable to meet kindred Pips members in real time real space. But you never know, it still may happen! Ida, thank you dear lady, for the visit. Heart, I'm delighted you enjoyed the breeze. Margherita, thanks! I haven't sailed in a very long time, but it's a joyful life experience you never forget. |

Thanks, Jo. The sails really do sing in the wind, and each time, it's a unique sound, at least to these ears. The wind also whistles and hums through beach grasses and around the rocks and driftwood. ~sigh~ Those are the sounds I hear in my dreams. |

The shore; the wind and a desire to sail. To be there on the ocean. You bring nature to the page. |

Kacy, I am shivering just thinking about being on the beach right now. The wind is icy and filled with rain, but I hear the breakers from my house in the wee hours of morning. They are unbelievably powerful in the winter storms now. I adore this poem! You make me think of the gulls in summer as they wheel and dive over the waves. We have a ruggedly beautiful coastline and you capture the untamed glory of it's breath and power with this one. I used to watch the regatta in Yaquina Bay when my son was working on a king crabber out of Kodiak that would moor there in summer. Magical, and so is your writing. Gorgeous poem! ![]() |

hey there, been going through a rough patch of waters for some time now and at the end of the road I am finding that release you very eloquently capture. It was never about foundering on the shore, or being shipwrecked....all I had to do was raise the anchor. good timing and a good read zaac |

This is so magnificent. You have the most amazing way of seeing and saying things so beautifully. --"Hoist the anchor, let go the weight of the past. Capture the wind as it hits your sails, trim the jib, and fly. Listen to the music of a wind song in the sails. Navigate the stars and be free." Just makes me want to fly with you. ooxx Marti ________________________ |
