Where Once He Stood

Where once he stood the grasses grow
The leaves still rustle high and low
Where once he walked the path still wends
Through shades of green, round little bends
The elm and poplar stately grow
Yet silently as if they know
The earth was silenced long ago
Where once he stood

A lofty tower does bestow
The grandest view to land below
He walks, he walks  his plot again
On wondrous trails that never end
Where measured acres brightly glow
With silver trees and golden snow
Yet fox and sparrow seem to know
Where once he stood

Poignant and beautiful, dear Elizabeth. I also love how you point out the animals' sensitivity. Yes, they do know!

Love and hugs.

Hello, Liz. I love the 'nature-al' beauty that you have so graciously penned.

"Yet fox and sparrow seem to know
Where once he stood"

Fantastic pic from the Mysterious One to complement your lovely poem!!!
