It was a lazy encounter The kind that make you wonder What divine intervention is What the sun brings to the stars When a cup of tea is offered at the crack Of another dawn An encounter That didn't stay With a cup of coffee But left for a journey Through miles and miles Of the desert highway. She sought solace In his brazen hair Picturesque body, But behind the smiles Behind his eyes He was someone else An oddity amongst a sea of people, A soul torn on his hardwood floor, A girl that shared his journey Like the shoulders that looked up to him And she left unneeded of angst Of his pale craze, And she left for another street, Another alley, and then came the phone call. And the boy was gone, bullet to the head Without a chance for silence A battered girl had become seasonally bitter. Still beautiful, still driven, But she was hurting, Hurting along the west side trees The doorstep she could no longer step to, And she "sleeps" at night. The shower runs Where the night is having coffee And she still can't find the breaking point, But along the Westside Streets You can still find her. This is lovely and reflects what society puts on so many youngsters today, and maybeon us all come to think of it... |
