Where did the men all go? I’d just like to know.
Did you vanish in the air, without a worry or a care?
Tell me, I’d just like to know. Did you vanish like a winter snow?
What about your children left behind, now was that really kind?
To leave them without a dad. I know that would make me mad.
So that you could be a night time smarty, and go to every party.
And chase after every skirt , that has the time to flirt.
Let the children grow up on their own, and your wife to face life alone.
And let  her do it all, with no man to call.
Now if you don’t mind, I’ll tell you is wasn’t very kind.
What devil does possess your soul, your actions do take a toll.
On those who depend on you, don’t you have a clue?
Those kids do need a dad, not some happy partying cad.
So you two couldn’t get along, or please sing some other song.
Getting along takes some work, don’t be a lazy jerk.
And dump the family on a whim, for some female fast and slim.
Who should just happen to pop up, and put whisky in your cup.
She won’t be there when times get mean, she’ll find another keen
To partake in her soft skin, another who looks like he will win.
Where did the men all go? I’d just like to know.
Did you vanish into the air, without worry, without care?

This poem is full of sadness that no one should ever feel. As sad as it is to say it, this is becoming a common issue in households.

This is a far too common scenario in today's society. If only more men had your character, dear GB. It was refreshing to read a poem of this nature written by a man.
Ofttimes these philandering men want to return to the family fold after they have had their flings, but the damage has already been done to their spouses and their children.

As Erma Bombeck used to say, "The grass is greener over the septic tank!"

Love to you, dear man!

That's good advice, dear GBride. You have written a very significant piece of poetry. There are too many men who are afraid of responsibility and every small difficulty induces them to take refuge in easy comfort "goods".

Well done.

Love,
Margherita

GBride, this the first time I have read one of your poems and I thought it made a lot of sense. They don't seem to make the men
now days like they did in bygone times where you took your partner for better or worse. Great poem my friend. Take care

Thanks you guys for reading my poem. I was mainly inspired by the poet Robert Bly's artical about men not taking their responsibilties seriously in the bring up of children. Where will the role models come from if the men are not available to provide them.
Though we live on the wind swept plains of Nebraska where the wind howls and few people live, we have the same problems as the city. After all television is here to. The children usually stay with the same mother, but change fathers on a regular basis usually because, "the parents can't get along."
Well, stopfighting and find some middle-ground where you can get along for the sake of the children. You two brought them into the world, why should they suffer for it?
There are drugs here, alcoholism, unfaithfulness, abuse, theft, violence, murder, yes they happen here as well.
We can't stop others from doing it; but we can stop ourselves. We don't have to participate in there evils.

Very strong lines and makes me sad. We used to live in a joint family five years ago, my great grandma, all my aunts and uncles, cousins brothers and sisters.Much of a well knit unit even today. It's much different in my part of the world though.
