art by Janet K. Brennan, 2007

She was here, our Margarita.
Flew in with the canyon winds.
We welcomed her
as we danced
upon the desert sands-barefoot
late at night.
Her wisdom told us to be brave.
That we would see the sun
even though the night be black
and wrought with demons.
.
She cried with us.
Swallowed our tears whole into her own.
Found joy
in the smallest wildflower
growing amongst rocky cracks;
its perfume sweeter for the toil.
Embracing
beauty in the hidden grace
of yet the darkest soul,
knowing light bounds.
.
We prayed with her.
Family encantations.
We were hers and she ours
in the early morning hours
when they said she had gone home.
And we knew
that none such as she
had ever graced this earth
nor loved God more
quite like our Margarita.~~~

Looks like you have written of a Saint and my namesake, dear Janet. There have been quite a few Saints with this name along history. Can't say that I follow in their footsteps though   .
Your exquisite poem is intriguing, dear Janet, it feels like if I had something in common with your Margarita who flew in with the canyon winds ... except that I did not go Home yet ... or did I? Pinching myself to be sure!

It is a wonderful write.

Love and ethereal hugs.
Margrit

ps The artwork is stunning again ... would be wonderful in a church

Thanks fellow poets:

Margrit, I dedicated this poem "for Margrit" because it did somehow remind me of you.  Hope you do not mind.  And yes, thank God, you are still here! (lol)

The poem was originally written about my dear sister, Margaret who came out to the desert to stay with us for a while.  We were a family grieving over the loss of our daughter and foar my other children, the loss of their sister,  and we were in such pain and turmoil.  She came and helped us to learn to dance again.

Huggs to all

Thank you for this explanation. It moves me, deeply. And thank you for thinking of me.

There comes indeed a time when we all need to learn to dance again and eventually we do, especially with the help of loving souls.

((((Janet))))

Love,
Margrit

I can visualize your artwork on a grand scale gracing a wall in a church. It is magnificent!

Your poem ~ and the explanation you wrote ~ both caused tears to well up in my eyes. Your sister and our Margherita both have beautiful spirits. The loss of your sister and your daughter, must have been unbearable. However, bear it, you did and with a brave heart.
Your wonderful creativity continues ~ and so do you. God bless.

Love & Eternal Light,
Linda
