Artist: Tan Chun Fall Time by Linda L. Dowd In waning light of summertide, The asters burst in bloom. Soft petal pinks turn russet brown, With autumn days in loom. As lazy days of August haze Give way to days of fall, There is a rise in vibrancy, ~ Woods ring with catbird call. The nights are crisp with cooling breeze. Clear skies are denim blue. The leaves of trees are burnished gold. Morn grass is kissed with dew. Each season has a certain charm With powers to enthral. But though they all are dear to me, ~ My favorite time is fall. . |

(smiles) Although my favorite season is spring because I just love how everything blooms and how it is symbolic of the Good Lord's providential promise that rebirth will always follow a long, cold winter, I love each season in its own way and autumn is certainly a most colorful one I appreciate wholeheartedly for its harvests, spicy scents and rustic reflection! (huggies) This is fabulous, dearest angel friend, yay! XOXO, Noah Eaton "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other" Mother Teresa |

A timely poem, eloquently expressed. I hope you don't mind my saying that this brings to mind the romantic poets of the 19th century - and this is praise, for we have lost so much of the truth they expressed, in our own modern times. But modernity is here too, dressed ‘in denim blue'. I am in Scotland, where the fall is not so fine, but it is fine indeed to read a poem that brings such imagery to the mind's eye. Many Thanks, Innse Gall |

Mistletoe Angel ~ Oh yes, I too enjoy all of the seasons. Spring and fall are actually my two favourite seasons. Like you, I enjoy the rebirthing aspects of the vernal months. Thank you for dropping by for a little visit and for your thought-filled response to it! Love to you, my sweet angel friend! Linda |

Midnitesun ~ After the demise of the summer flowers, I eagerly await the arriveal of the fall ones! Enjoy your asters! I also enjoy the little surprises in my garden like "wildflowers that were hiding behind taller plants". Glad you appreciated my fall time as I did yours! ~ and I, too, fell in love with that painting! What an artist! Linda |

Innse Gall ~ What a lovely, eloquent reply! Several of my ancestors came from Scotland, however, I have never visted the country and would love to do so. I have written several poems on Scotland ~ at times I feel as though I was native born. I ofter write in the style of 19th century writers ~ or at least I try to do so! I actually was not trying to write in that manner with this poem, but after having read your comment, I realized that a bit of it had come through in this poem. Thank you for saying so! Earth Angel |

Jan ~ The changes in seasons are more dramatic, here in Canada. However, the subtle changes in other parts of the world, can be most pleasing as well. May the coming fall be a happy one for you! Linda |

Fall is nice out here in Nebraska on the wind swept plains, where very few people live. We don't have many trees and the few we do have, often are carried off by tornados. But there is one place called Nebraska City that has lots of trees and apples, and pumpkins, and sour cherries. My wife and I love the fall as well, it is our favorite time. Love your poem!!! |

My dear Canadian Earth Angel, I might have known that you would have something extra special for me to read when I came back. I certainly wasn't dissappointed for that is a brilliant poem about a wonderful time of the year. Love to you dear friend. Lindsay |

Linda, I love fall. The leaves were being blown from some of the trees today and it looked like gold dust flitting before my car. The sky is bright blue and it is supposed to get the mid 70's again tomorrow. These fall days are gorgeous. I am taking my dogs to a creek I discovered this Saturday. We went once before (when I had all three) and they loved the water. It's about a hundred mile drive round trip, but they get to ride and feel the air. I love fall - oh, and I love my dogs too. xoxoxo Alison PS - Linda, thank you for the emails when I had my Gromet girl put to sleep. You are a special and lovely woman! This is my baby, Gromet - I took this last winter when she was 12.5 years. |

Alison, I am moved beyond words to see this photo of your baby, Gromet. I could not help but tear up. I was glad that I was able to offer you at least a modicum of comfort during that difficult time for you. "The leaves were being blown from some of the trees today and it looked like gold dust flitting before my car. The sky is bright blue and it is supposed to get the mid 70's again tomorrow. These fall days are gorgeous." ~ Alison, "gorgeous" to be sure!!! I do know how much you love your dogs and I'm sure they love you just as much in return! I trust that you all had a wonderful time at the creek! Sounds like fun! Love you, Lasky Girl! Linda |

Angelo Terrestre, your wings shine even brighter than usual with that touch of gold you convey with your enchanting poem about fall. I could sit with closed eyes and listen to your poems and I would see and feel ever so intensely the sceneries and emotions you succeed gifting us with. Wonderful. I love the picture too. Love and hugs. Margherita |

Maga Mar-phina ~ Three of the reasons that I adore your poetry are your ability to convey deep emotion, stimulate a reader's imagination, and portray vivid imagery. ~ Not to mention that I adore the inspirational and spiritual qualities of your writing. REJ ~ I do believe there are many who feel as you do ~ and for a variety of reasons. The fall can be a bit of a mixed bag, weather-wise. Some people may rue the ending of summer or may not look for forward to the advent of winter after fall has 'fallen'. Linda |

Esha ~ But of course you may call me Linda! My goodness, it certainly is flattering that my poem reminded you of the works of Robert Frost and Williams Wordsworth! That was very kind of you to say! Thank you VERY much, indeed!!! Love & Poet Light, Linda |

I really enjoyed this poem, Linda. However it did take forever for my godawful browser to load the beautiful painting. :s I've always found a certain bittersweet tang in the autumn air. It is a time for memories; sometimes joy, and sometimes grief. Being a believer the ancient gods of my homeland of Europe, my favourite season of all is winter. The time of Skadi the Huntress, her wolves, and the song of arrows. I'm a keen archer. :p And all the roads that I've been strolling down... now I've found they all seem to be marooned. So profoundly doomed. |

Hi, Luke le Duke ~ Uploading must be a very frustrating experience when your Browser has lead feet, so to speak! ~ But I'm glad you persisted and were finally able to load that gorgeous fall painting by Tan Chun. It's breath-taking. Yes, there are some bittersweet aspects to fall. For me it is the farewell to summer ~ not the dislike of an adventing winter. Winter is especially beautiful, here in Canada. I used to be a bit of an archer myself, many moons ago! I love the 'thwang' when the arrow is released! Linda |

Oh my, lovely tribute to a lovely season, and my fav as well! In going through the comments I found Allyson's dog. I am a major dog person and of course, it stopped me in my tracks amongst the comments. It would seems that all of you wonderful poets are fine, giving and loving people. Rick ~ The fall months invigorate me and I find I get several projects completed at that time that I may have neglected during the lazy, hazy 'dayz' of summer. Are you heading into spring Down Under? That's my other favourite time of the year! Linda |

Jan ~ Gromet looked so regal in that photo. She had kind, wise eyes. I was pleased that Alison posted a pic of her for me. Some people say that diamonds are a girl's best friend. Some say that a dog is a man's best friend. Well, then, I must be a man! Thanks for stopping by, Jan! Linda |
