When this love affair has ended... with my pen I'll pay respect When my shallow wounds have mended... I will soberly reflect... on the things that drew me to you Reasons that I loved you so Like...the way your blonde hair glistened green beneath the dashboard's glow How...you always had cigarettes How rightly I was praised The way your kisses made me dizzy, while in a drunken haze The simple, daily, routine tasks that you often couldn't do How...when I slurred the words "I love you" You stammered you did too When you realize it's over... please, do not forget the way we staggered, damp and breathless on those sticky code orange days My restless head rest easier Knowing... Should I thirst to drown... You would be there right beside me and we'd pull each other down. *** |
