Mom got news the other day
He told her that he is gay
Mom was simply blown away
Learning that her son is gay
Saying he can go his way
Saying that for him she’ll pray
Saying that he chose this way
He decided to be gay
Living his life in this way
Mom don’t blame me 'cause he’s gay
All that fear of what she’d say
It has now all gone away
All that fear was just for naught
Preparing for what she thought
Screaming was not even wrought
Fear was just my thoughts mislead
“Choice is yours” is what she said

A reaction that expresses love. Even in the most delicate situations mothers don't cease to be mothers.

Love,

Maybe I am misinterpeting, but this sounds like she feels she has to accept it, but being "blown away" and saying it was his choice to make...and the praying from your words, sounded like she is very disappointed and your fear was correct,  except in the blaming of you (remembering your "what would mom say" poem).
Everything will be all right when each  is  shown respect.

Thank you both for your comments. To explain a bit, I never really feared Mom not liking that my brother is gay. I already knew she wouldn't. I was more scared that she would hurt him by how she reacted or that she would blame me. Mom saying that she'll "pray" for us is her gentle way of saying that she doesn't agree with what we're doing at all and she views it as a sin, and she's going to pray that we will turn away from what she views as a lifestyle choice. I still love Mom and I know she loves us kids. It's just hard sometimes to deal with the constant knowledge that she is always, in some way, disappointed by us.
