It's a good thing van Gogh doesn't need my sunflower garden for his vibrant paintings. Yet my five sunflowers are enough for a small canvas should someone decide to capture them in brilliant yellow gold. Two Sun-heads are drooping now, almost as much as my head droops on Chemo Tuesdays. The scarcity of wildflowers made the few all the more precious, and rowdy Blackeyed Susans nearly took over one flower bed, while the Echinacea over powered smaller flowers in another planting. Nature took the upper hand all summer, with lots of rain, little sun, yet with an even-handed dose of whatever was needed to transform the yard into a vibrant color palette all the passersby enjoyed. A tiny racing-striped chipmunk stayed busy stealing small green tomatoes then feasting on them on the porch steps. Most of the tomato crop encountered tomato blight, but there were enough for me to enjoy the fresh home grown taste of those succulent juicy fiery red orbs. I'm winding down from gardening now, no more plantings to nurture. The perennials will return on their own next year, and the cycle of life will again renew itself. That's Nature's Way, the way of the Universe. |

Kacy, even in the world of flowers, there is competition ~ and survival of the fittest ~ and showiest! Delicate violets can wilt in the shade of a sunflower or peony! You are one of my all-time favourite poets. ~ and I mean ALL-TIME. ~ even when compared to the classic writers of by-gone eras. Your poetry is timeless. Here I go again! Kacy, I, too, love your poetry. You capture nature in a way that I see it and feel it. You bring art to my eyes through your words. Yet, I almost cried. While I enjoyed your garden - I have been thinking of you so much lately quote: That says so much to me. Oh Alison, Tuesdays aren't the greatest but the tumor continues to shrink, so its worth the misery. Thank you for your comments on the nature writes, they are probably my favorites.Sharon, LOL, I try to kick butt (and not my own) as often as possible, sometimes I do get kicked though. Still, things are looking up for me at this point. THANKS for the great photos you sent this morning, they gave me a huge healing laugh. |

Kacy, this is an absolute flower garden of a poem and my favourite (I think – there are so many that fit the bill) except for a couple of horsy poems of yours. Your Vincent and his fans are the poorer for his not having seen your garden. With regard to the end of the first stanza, YOU captured them in brilliant yellow gold. Those two sunheads droop in empathy with your Tuesdays. Your poem is just as beautiful as the photograph of your garden. I absolutely adore your little “racing-striped chipmunk” (please give him my love when you see him next). I am sorry about the tomato blight, but glad you had some of them. OWL! Thank you dear, for that reply. We barely got true summer weather here four weeks ago and now it's reverting back to chilly nights and cool days. It rained again today, and is supposed to thunderstorm this weekend. ~SIGH~ the sunflowers search for el Sol each day, but hang their heads in disappointment at the dreary skies. I will have two more sessions of Chemo, and more testing, then will have a long break during the move back west (early October). |

Kacy, the sky is crying and the sunflowers are sad that you are leaving for the West Coast. I hope you will have lots of sunny days yet (even if it is a bit late) with them before you leave. Today is Tuesday, so a chemo day, so I am feeling for you. Presumably you won't see this for a couple of days, though. Love and huggles Owl |

Oh Diana, it was indeed a very long chemo session, and the side effects are kicking in already. Still, I will be online as I can, for all the positive energy I receive from reading at Pips. Thanks for reading and replying. My sunflowers and I are smiling. |

Shellie, thank you so much for the visit! Ida, that's a great salsa or salad combo, tomoatoe and pepper...yum! I didn't geta single bell pepper to grow, it was too rainy this summer, and well...those red orbs mostly are still lying around on the ground 'till I get the energy to rake them up. The critters are still enjoying them anyway. Little Chippie Chipmunk loves the small green cherry tomatoes growing by the front porch, eats them on the steps and leaves the drying outer skins all over the place. LOL. He scolds me for interrupting him when I open the screen door. |
