it wasn't always like this
me...not knowing what to say

so I said nothing
that would hurt or help

the end result will be the same
either way

there are times when we must each go
our separate ways,
follow our own survival path

this is one of those times

as my songwriter friend Tim wrote,
talk is just a waste of time
when touch is all you need

but I can no longer reach out,
no longer touch you
the way you want or need

it wasn't always like this,
but this is now
my reality

Thanks Alison and Jerry.
This comes straight from the heart, but releasing it gives me a deep sigh of relief...it was something that needed to be 'exhaled' today.

Yo dear Kacy,

Don't go on like that.  You do good work, and I like your stuff.

It's always such a shame when things change but sometimes it's necessary even though we perhaps don't fully understand the reason. The read leaves me with a heavy heart.

I've had these same thoughts, Kacy. And, I understand where you are coming from. I sure hope things get better for you, soon. My heart goes out to you.

For no apparent reason, things can change.
Or there may be reason. The gift comes when we can accept it graciously

Yes indeed, a fine poem and delight to read.  Not long since I was in the same situation.

Thanks, Ida. It's both a personal and poetic intent in this one.

I like the sides of communication : talk or touch ? may be both, may be none, this is a very sensitive and convincing poem Kacy and I love it...

Thank you for your careful reading and your sensitive comments, Yann.
Yes, touch or talk or perhaps...simply silence?

Kacy, your innate beauty, strength, wisdom ~ and talent, come shining through this exceptionally moving heart-spill.

It appears that you keep kindred company in that your "songwriter friend Tim wrote,
talk is just a waste of time
when touch is all you need".

Kacy, may you be touched as warmly as you touch others.

Giving you a warm, compassionate hug,

Linda

Thanks, DS! Not free of the cancer, but feeling free of the negative thoughts that tend to ride along with major illnesses.

Maureen, yes, it does seem to be a fairly 'universal' event.

Kacy, I read this right after you had written it and I was sure I had answered it.  I just had to read it again, and in so doing, I discovered that I hadn't replied.

This is quiver-sad and Kacy-honest and heart-wrenching.  I am glad it brought you catharsis, though.

Accept this imaginary cyber-posy of brightly coloured flowers of every hue in a short plump vase full of water so that all you need to do is to enjoy them and inhale their scents.

Dear Kacy, your words touch deeply beyond the surface where emotions leave trails of overwhelming life experiences.

Intense write.

(big huggies) This really hit home to me, my friend, because I too went a long time where, after multiple rough social experiences, I relegated myself to a compulsive dissociative phase socially..............and there used to be a time when I was afraid of the world touching me, afraid of life, afraid of death, afraid of touch in general..........but as time went on, and I silently suffered bereft of contact........the desire to have the world touch me screamed louder than my compulsion to be detached, and I finally had this aching, bawling breakdown where I KNEW I couldn't go on like this, and I HAD to touch the world again and let the world touch me. So, in all honesty, I feel reborn this year in some respects..........and there are days I have this buoyant lovesick feeling for life where I feel light-headed, and touch is now what I need, what I want, more than anything in the whole wide world............but it certainly wasn't always like this for me either! (hugs)

(huggies) Bless you, my friend, your words always resonate with great truth and speak volumes the whole world over! I am blessed to be one of many fans of yours!

XOXO,
