Outside the door and a few steps down Jumping, whirling and thrashing around Flashes of yellow, orange and green Seeing, not knowing what is seen Whatever it was, it seemed to be hurt Flopping and rolling around in the dirt Finally, it stood and started to walk. An Amazon Parrot It could not talk It had no beak Could not make a sound Its' head was green and perfectly round I said, "I'll take care of you" "I'll help you get well" When it looked at me, is when my heart fell Eyes in a ball, with my eyes, did meet In great sadness, I wondered, "How will you eat?" and then I woke up *** |
