Opening a Bible
to read
here these facts are written
in Nineteen, Thirty, and Seven

Here were born
here were married
a tree branch blossomed
from two that tarried

for 71 years

To have lived through the thirties
when all the world was
black and white
with dreams

times so bitter sweet
when despair brought together
brother and brother
in a rally cry

and all the sounds
of the world
were picking up
speed

when there was still innocence
in romance
how bright
are the highlights

to be
rediscovered...

When my grandmother passed, I was going through her bible and I experienced the same sense of nostalgia. A poignant moment that you have brought back to mind.

A deeply meaningful read for me. Thank you.

Thats EXACTLY what I was doing. We burried her today, she was 5 days away from her 100th birthday, today.

Thanks EA, James. Well I hope I just got the long life jeans because I know I didnt get height genes from her, she was 4'10 and Im 6'6. :-P
