Balaam had a talking donkey Darn thing nearly drove him bonkey Blasted thing would not move a bit Even after it was hit. In the donkey was God disguised But Balaam was not a bit surprised To have a donkey that could speak A creature that was low and meek A creature with barely a thought And one that surely ought To only make a braying sound Was laying on the ground Spilling out words of caution true For Balaam to most carefully rue The wisdom of the beast was right But Balaam’s intelligence was slight I think if I ever met a talking beast I would take the time at least To find out what it had to say Though it might turn my feet to clay I guess it proves a sad old tale That human logic does often fail And that animals have a certain way To give us all a better day. |

I see God in my precious little kitty. She speaks to me through her language of 'paw' signs and through her expressive, beautiful eyes. Her name is "Angel". Baalam's donkey was very special, indeed. I enjoyed your poem and it's message. Love & Animal Light, EA |

Poor donkey, wonderful creature, not understood and only reproached for its stubbornness. Beautiful thoughts, here. I agree that we should listen more to what they have to say, because you can be sure they DO have something to say. Love, Margherita |

I absolutely loved everything about this - the narrative, the concept, the moral and esPECially the donkey! I ADORE donkeys with their velvety ears that go almost up to Heaven. All animals speak and are without sin and God is in all of them. They understand a tremendous amount more of what humans say than most humans understand of what they say. I must say, I find animals a lot easier to understand than humans. Owl |

Yo GBride, You have the right idea here. Donkeys know what's best, and when they talk, people should listen. It's kind of dumb not to. Bobby |
