Briefly I slide back Into the world of babydolls and teddy bears But I cannot stay long Adulthood pulls too strongly And I am forced to go along I've memorized the words To my favorite childhood songs But they mean less and less As time sprints on And with it I am forced to run I want to go back to the beginning Like when I was first with you When I was first *with* you I was so naive... Such a blessed time Take me back To that time Love me as the child I was For a time Hold me, Kiss me, Please me Forget Time It means nothing to us And we nothing to it |

I enjoyed this - as I am probably old enough to be your Grandmother, and trust me, I have my entire life continued to enjoy the child in me. I hope I never stop. No one should deny themselves the joy of their child within. Nicely written. |

I enjoyed this poem very much so, I think the theme is one that is written about quite a lot, yet you captured it well. "I've memorized the words To my favorite childhood songs But they mean less and less As time sprints on And with it I am forced to run" - forced to choose i think this is my favourite stanza, the idea of the childhood songs is in fact one that I have thought about before. Very well written, I did enjoy reading this. Missed reading you work! Belinda~* Expect nothing, Prepare for anything. |
