Why do I let magazine covers dictate the standard of beauty? Telling me who I am and who I should be. Why do I aspire to be like those stars I see on the TV? I think the media is distorting my sense of reality. I don't care where the biggest celebrity went on vacation FOX, CNN, MSNBC, this kind of nonsense is on every station Can I get some information that challenges me to think? Not useless crap that causes my brain to shrink I can't even lie, sometimes it has even sucked me in Distracting me could have marked the beginning of the end I could have easily forgotten what was important in life, & the real problems at hand Why they feel it's necessary to show those things I'll never understand Can I just get the real news without the bias, is that too much to ask for And can I get a nice story every once in a while, there's more to life than war There are people doing good everyday of the week Mothers & Fathers that work hard day in & day out so their families can eat Don't tell me those stories don't exist, I see good happen everyday I promise you'll see the sun if you can look past the grey But instead you want to focus on the negative & the bad On the murderers, the criminals, the news is just sad Is it just all about ratings, nevermind the truth? Is that the reason to corrupt the youth? Who cares about ruining our minds because blood & gore sells And then they wonder why we have overcrowded jail cells You guys are the reason for our moral decay Coming into our homes, brainwashing us with foolishness everyday Just because that's the way it is doesn't mean that's the way it should be. It's the time for change so please hear my plea! |

If you are under 20 years of age reading this: "You guys are the reason for our moral decay Coming into our homes, brainwashing us with foolishness everyday" gives me hope for the future. Well done! |

Wow! You speak the utter truth. I really like this poem. Library! -Zach When I see your smile, and I know it’s not for me, that’s when I’ll miss you. |

Hmmmm, I have to disagree with just one thing you mentioned. On the news channels I watch, it does show the bad with the good. Most of this is very truthful. Nice Work!! |

Wow, this is really good, but I can't complitely agree, 1) because of what Michaela wrote and 2) because you choose who you're going to be influenced by, if you don't want to watch a certain news channel because they're bias, then don't. I don't watch CNN for that reason. Basically, we can't just blame the media, it's ultimately our faults for the path we take. With God I am happy; sadness has no say in my life. |
