Smile for the brick wall

Deep water lost its hue
when all my spring colors burned blue.
And life bites like a snake
when you wake up blind to a brick wall.

But don't despair; It's not hard to carve out a smile.
(Neither is lying through clenched teeth.)
It can't be helped.
There's safety in comformity.
