Yelling Screaming A girl crying She’s in her room Crying into her Favourite toy She’s fifteen But she can’t help it Her parents are fighting Again It’s been like this For over two years Crash Bang Something’s broken Mum’s voice gets louder Dad matches her All over an earring All over Thud Slam Dad’s out the door Where did he go? Will he come back? The girl sits and listens Tears flowing freely Her dad starts the car And leaves He just leaves Gasp Sob Her mum’s crying The girl comes out Of her room Tears drip silently on Her pajamas Drip Drip Drip Her mum’s sobbing She doesn’t notice That the girl’s there Until it’s too late The girl runs to her room Crying She didn’t notice Until it was too late "If I am an angel paint me with black wings"-Anne Rice |

Being fortunate enough to be in a close family, I have no idea how this would feel. However, this is touching and is perhaps the faintest glimmer of understanding of a painful ordeal. I do, for lack of a better word, enjoy the use of onomatopoeia (spelling?), and the short lines truly present the message faithfully. Excellent work, in my humble opinion. |
