Did You Mean It? |

The elegant lies of forbidden amour. The brief, tender kisses behind the dark scenes. The sweetest elation I ever had known was falling apart at the half-stitched seams. Carefully hidden, the "love" I'd supposed rendered nothing but pain and a dreadful decision. Never before had I hurt with such clarity; scoping each fault with an eagle precision. The choice to be made: to hold on or let go. Grasping each memory; cradling each day. The smiling, the laughing, the fun, and the dancing. The danger was mine, but I fell and I'll pay. The end came too swift, there was more to be done as "together" and "we," and not "you," and not "I." We were heart, we were mind. We were slipping away from the beautiful dream, and I still don't know why. I should have prepared for the bitter conclusion. The knife-cut was sudden, but I should have seen it. And after the why, I have only one question. When you whispered, “I love you,” did you mean it? Misa: I can't imagine a world without Light! |

I always love your poetry. I have a feeling this was written with a past love in mind? Mr. Marine? |
