Haven't been writing much lately. Which explains this. As The Crow Flies ‘How would you know, you weren’t there’ Said the crow with the magpie’s feather in its hair Bone in its beak and salt in its eye Knowing and growing with hand against thigh Hoarding its treasures and self assured claps Sits in a nest of newspaper scraps ‘Patience is virtue’ are the wise words Of the old crow who plays mocking bird Wingtip to wingtip isn’t quite straight As is the flight bound figure of eight Suspended on lines in a moment of grace That scowls and pecks tears straight from its face Claws around wood and smirks skin deep Liquorice wings to cut off and keep ‘How would you know, you weren’t there’ Said the crow with the magpie’s feather in its hair. |
