I was writing this poem for a contest on birthstones and the more I wrote the more I realized that though this poem was written about my birthstones it was also written about me. Opal: Pink tourmaline steals my glory Soft and delicate opal Who wants that? Pink tourmaline is much prettier More suitable for a mothers ring My name means Child as beautiful as love I used to be treasured and loved Set in crowns and worn in necklaces My beauty for all to see Now this lie steals my love My rightful place Adorns your neck and hands For all to see And most believe That its her rightful place Though she stole it from me Im not pink like her But when the light hits me just right All can see the pink in me But at times I am green with envy Sometimes blue too I have a rainbow hidden within me If you look you will see It is me |
