Sometimes I wish I could write a poem. Like Emily Dickinson, or Robert Frost. I wish I could make something out of nothing, A million things out of a single sentence. I wish I could use phrases like, 'love, the breaking of your soul upon my lips' But all that comes to mind is some Overused Obama quotes. Is it that I'm not a poet? You can't become a poet? You have to be born a poet? Does it really take a life to say, 'Roses are red, Violets are blue' And actually mean it? For it to actually have a meaning? I may trod on the path many have before me. But I will wander from it and make one that is unique for me. And that is what makes me a poet. I also posted this on my Hellopoetry account: http://hellopoetry.com/poem/unique-unlike-me/ Also, the first poem script in mym poem is a bit of E.E. Cumming's 'As Is The Sea Marvelous' |
