This living prison This facade of comfort It means nothing Lonely Abandoned Every knock and rattle, every whisper of a distant door a glimmer of hope No longer breathing I count the seconds The moment never comes There is no joy here No respite from despair The disappointment cuts even deeper The brilliant pain blossoms forth anew The petals tinged with fear, self hatred With doubt I wallow in my grief Self imposed and justified |

The horrors life can and will throw at a person usually can't even hold a candle to the "self-imposed" things we will put ourselves through. Spent many years, by choice, in my own self-imposed prison. This poem resonates well with me. Welcome to PiP. Michael |

"The brilliant pain blossoms forth anew The petals tinged with fear, self hatred With doubt" ~Gorgeous images here, petals of somber, read in a hush. In trials of all nature, I think we release some of our pain as you've written yours here, but we also learn to heal from it as well. You are amongst friends here Warmest Welcome's to you, Angela! I am so happy to see a new talent here in dark, your pen has made a grand entrance. I hope you will continue sharing! ~d "..But a tyrant spell has bound me, |

Thank you both! I am greatful to be among friends here and even more so to have a place to share my musings! This was written in a moment of all consuming despair that I had created in my own head. I am my own worse enemy -_- but it inspired some beautiful introspection. Thank you again for your kind words and input. |
