When darkness befalls, I am a vulnerable little sheep, Who is unable to do anything. Especially if a wolf comes by and bites me.... I fall to the ground and just lay there. Unable to move And unable to do anything... When dawn breaks, I am a cheerful little bird. Who is chirping And flapping its wings. Being all friendly, and making small talk.... I'm just smiling as if Nothing's wrong, And thinking everything is just a facade.. When darkness befalls again, I am curled up inside my covers As if I'm afraid of something... Something that I will probably start Considering my friend... But I don't want to be its friend. I just don't.... because I'm afraid that it will become my friend forever..... |

Your poetry rings true for one who wishes for friendships yet fears them at the same time. Having a friend makes us vulnerable and that can be frightening, like learning to swim by being thrown out of the boat. Some of us are simply jealous of our time and don't want the imposition of others. The latter is the easiest to modify. You don't have to deal with a 'wolf'. ...just bein' Bluesy [This message has been edited by Bluesy Socrateaser (01-11-2014 11:48 PM).] |
