Suffering memories laden with needles, Haphazardly placed into railroad tracks Tattooed the length of her bony limbs. Flashbacks of mother nodding, ashes litter tattered clothes, face lolls like melting putty. Remiss to the sculpting of a child’s growth Are these recollections – each instance Takes away a piece of her progeny’s morality. Conventions are predestined to be broken; Self doomed to be crushed with every flagrant truth Of the constant indiscretion and condemnation Faced by an ill-fated soul, mislead haphazardly, On the merciless, furtive passageway of survival. |
