Many a mile did I travel Through distant lands of sorrow Through the land of terror In search of the morrow. The sun above me pale and cold Above me shown at midnights darkest hour, The path was cold, the darkness overwhelming, the heat unbearable. I traveled I traveled Through the lands of the sorrow in search of the morrow, Yet found by daylight’s calmest hour Naught but terror. I trailed behind you Trailed and trailed Till I got lost in the sorrow. So it happened that before he found the land of dawn He got lost in the costly land of the lost. The last I thought While in the dark Was thoughts of you. And as his life to expire began, He thought of his past life Of his lost hopes and broken dreams. With sadness and sorrow He had traveled in search of the morrow Through the distant lands of horror. Now here he lays Weak, meek, bewildered, alone and dying. I laid down to sleep, shivered from the cold And thought thoughts of you Of your sweet eyes and words. And with his last dying breath. With the last of my soul, the last of my breath. In the last seconds of life, I uttered Your name. yolilitzli |

Epic. And I LOVE epic. You have all of the tools of an excellent writer of poetry. Spit and polish will help the mechanics of it to fine tune. ·´~`·»Garapan«·´~`· |

Richard, Welcome to Passions. I'm sorry I didn't see this when it was first posted, but in this blue world of ours, it's never too late to issue a huge Welcome! I don't read "dark" poetry much, but every now and then I venture in. I didn't find this so much a "dark" piece as I did a well versed story line...and I enjoyed it. Please check your email for a Very Special Welcome! "The business of the poet...is to show the sorriness underlying the grandest things and the grandeur underlying the sorriest things."
