From tragic heights she falls Wings bloodied and torn Once an angel now pariah By her own kind scorned She loved a mortal man Her heart burned from within Passion's carnal dance Was deemed a deadly sin She falls so helpless Her broken wings bleed Hurled from heaven For carrying a mortals seed Underneath cruel stars From heaven's celestial dome She plummets through black clouds Beaten and disowned As she falls earthward She thinks of her romance Her eyes swell with tears At her draconian penance She falls so helpless Her broken wings bleed Hurled from heaven For carrying a mortals seed As jagged peaks draw close As she despairs and screams For her tragic fate And her broken dreams They tore away her wings So she fell from the sky Her divinity was stripped So her shame would die Bereft and breathless A solemn hero mourns For his angelic love And the tragedy she's borne On the seashore I espy the dreadful void under the tides |
