I can’t tell if you’re that lady in the Lexus The one that drives by noticeably sad Or maybe that pizza boy Checking himself in the mirror of a window Unaware of passerby’s on the other side Are you the one jogging down the street Hoping for some quick glance Or the guy with a briefcase who knows it’s only a glorified knapsack Could you be the man puffing on his pipe At an outdoor diner With that three times a charm read of a newspaper Or what about that kid walking down the street With a pair of phones in his ears That appear to be attached to his soul Maybe you’re that college chick strutting her stuff That gets kicks out of different experiences A bartender looking for love at thirty Or how about that clerk selling ties at the mall Speaking about how know one says please and thank you anymore Maybe your some girl with an odd piercing That speaks a little louder in awkward situations By chance a melodramatic professor That hasn’t touched coffee in two years Or could you be a preacher who loves yelling at the crowds Maybe one who cares Ten feet away and it could be a devout viewer in the passenger seat of a pew A man who wants a second shot at life And then tries with a lotto ticket Or how about a biker that doesn’t care about nature An obsession of fitness where he forgets everything behind A young teenage girl who loves Sylvia Plath Or that old women who dreams at night in bed to marry again There’s such a diversity of character But with a point of personal perspective It seems as if we’re all forced into these situations I’m a chance encounter Some guy with old holes in his jeans That’s still trying to look to cool |

Okay, this is beautiful. The set up is not wonderful, and sometimes the lines do no fit, but the message and the meaning cover up all of those tiny flaws. I love this poem. I love when you write " Or what about that kid walking down the street With a pair of phones in his ears That appear to be attached to his soul". I love all of this poem. It wonderful, and I can not say how much I love it. Really really beautiful. |

For some reason, what I commented did not show up... Basically, I said how much I love this poem. I knew exactly what you meant when you wrote about the headphones being connected to the boys soul. I reallyreally love this poem, it is wonderful. |
