For those who are familiar with Lord Tennyson's poem "The Lady of Shalott," Then this poem should sound familiar. Though I'll never be able to compare to Lord Tennysons poem I actually like this. Hope you enjoy! And sorry its sooo long! Haha.

Beyond the crisp'n sea
Among the shallow lie to be
Pass the rye and barley see
In her tower by Camelot
The lilies grow below
While the wind turns and blows
A seldom few come and go
To the tower of Shalott

Hear the maiden sing
The melody sorrow it does brings
Hidden among her golden strings
In her tower of Shalott
Looking through a mirrors glass
Creating art through her spyglass
Of the fields and billowing grass
In beloved Camelot

A bow shot from her bower-eaves
He came riding through the barley sheaves
Sun shining thro' green leaves
Bold came Sir Lancelot
Galloping through the fields
Yielding a brimming shield
Her heart began to yield
The heart fair Lady of Shalott

Tears drip down to the stone
Wind chilling to her bones
"This bloody curse has left me alone"
Says the bitter Lady of Shalott
"For if I stay in this tomb
I'll face my death outside this womb
There for I'll leave this damask room
To escape to dear Camelot"

So down a latter made of twine
She came upon her ropey vine
Her voice came sweet as wine
The Lady of Shalott
Into a boat on the surf
Wading water on living earth
She sails into a river's girth
Down the river by Camelot

Embraces within expanses
Marveled and in her trances
With the world she took her chance
The Lady of Shalott
But did she look among the sides
Where her name written on beside
The water is her guide
Onward to Camelot

But as the day met its end
She wavered down a waters bend
In life she did descend
Away from Lancelot
As the life drains from her face
Her voice die without a trace
Lancelot says "Well she had a pretty face."

I think Tennyson would have liked it. You definitely captured his voice. A cool modern take on an always great. Excellent.

Thank you!

Wish I could find love.. But all I find these days are superficial fish in shallow waters.
